Long before cell phones, communication between deployed patriots and their families was very limited. However, Raymond Dunavant overcame this obstacle by having his wife send parts for his short wave radio in order to allow soldiers to communicate with home just like it was a regular phone call.

Here you will find Billy and Mary Dean Jepsen of Prichard, Miss. in Tunica County. Box 52. Besides being a radio operator, Billy Jepsen was a large scale cotton farmer. Mary Dean Jepsen eventually became my step-grandmother after her marriage to my grandfather, Raymond Dunavant, Sr. (W5VBY). Tunica is now a gambling mecca amongst the cotton fields of the area.
